Buxton Fringe’s £300k boost to the local economy

Buxton Fringe has released statistics showing that this year’s festival resulted in a nearly £300,000 boost to the local economy. The estimated figure of £276,042 includes expenditure from performers during their stay in Buxton plus audience spend on food, accommodation and ticket sales for shows by local performers. This very conservative estimate does not include the Fringe’s additional local expenditure on printing, design, merchandise and Fringe Information Desk wages.

The shortlist for the 2024 Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards has been revealed, showcasing excellence and outstanding achievement across the area’s tourism and hospitality sector. Remembering the fallen in Chesterfield

More laughs to be had as Jimmy Carr and Paul Smith announce Derby tour dates

Back by popular demand, comedic heavyweight Jimmy Carr will be presenting his new show, Laugh Funny. It’s 90 minutes of solid jokes with no interval. He makes his return to Derby Arena on Fri 7 Feb 2025. The show starts at 8:00pm. Known for his controversial one-liners, books and TV shows, Jimmy Carr began his career in 2000, following his dream of being a comedian by performing in small local gigs. The rest is history, and he has been performing and sharing his taboo opinions in various forms ever since.
