DDance

DDance Article Image.DDance is a dance and movement project for people aged 55+. DDance was originally envisaged as a weekly physical class focussed on building strength and balance to help against falls and develop people’s confidence in their own mobility. At the start of 2020 our pilot series of classes began with a lovely group of participants in Alfreton. However due to the Covid19 pandemic we had to rethink our delivery.

We are aware that many people have been less physically active due to the lockdowns, tiers and isolation. It is important to keep healthy and active, and dance can play an important and enjoyable role in helping you do that.

DDance commissioned a series of dance and movement-based videos run by our DDance leader, Andrea Haley, a Falls Management & exercise instructor and dance movement therapist.

There’s a taster session to show you what to expect, and then a series of half hour videos that you can follow in your own time, and repeat regularly to keep you moving and help get you stronger and more confident with your mobility.

The videos each include the following sections:

  • Postural check
  • Warm up
  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Balance
  • Cool down

You don’t need any dance experience – just have a watch and give it a try!
