Introducing The Team Behind Arts Derbyshire – Morgan Stockton

Arts Derbyshire is supported by a team whose sole aim is to enrich the community through art and creativity. Although you may already have heard about and partaken in Arts Derbyshire projects, we would like to introduce you to the arts team behind Arts Derbyshire and learn about their work in their own words.

In this article, we get to know more about Morgan Stockton, who is our Creative Health Coordinator.

Morgan Stockton is an Early Years artist, cultural producer, and researcher with over a decade of experience creating meaningful creative experiences for young children and their families. Her work centres on the transformative role of arts, play, and creativity in early childhood, with a commitment to widening access, nurturing inclusive spaces, and strengthening community connections.

Rooted in play-based pedagogy, co-creation, and deep listening, Morgan has developed Early Years programmes for organisations including Leicester Cathedral and Culture Leicestershire, and contributed to long-term research initiatives such as Moonbeams and Talent 25. She has held key learning roles at The Spark Arts for Children, Leicester Gallery – De Montfort University, Nottingham Contemporary, Ikon, and Derby QUAD. As the East Midlands Representative for Engage and Co-Chair of the Early Years in Museums network, she is dedicated to sharing best practice and supporting sector-wide collaboration. Her work spans Early Years, schools, SEND, community, and healthcare settings, with a consistent focus on equitable access to arts-based learning.

As Creative Health Coordinator for Arts Derbyshire, Morgan works closely with the Creative Health Producer to support project delivery, artist development, and clear communication, helping Creative Health activity thrive across the county.
