Arts Derbyshire is supported by a team whose sole aim is to enrich the community through art and creativity. Although you may already have heard about and partaken in Arts Derbyshire projects, we would like to introduce you to the arts team behind Arts Derbyshire and learn about their work in their own words.
In this article, we are profiling Debbie Porter our website editor and digital marketing manager.
Debbie has been involved with the Arts Derbyshire brand since its inception in 2006. Starting out as a partnership project between the County Council and the Local Authorities as a way of streamlining the way information is delivered to people in the creative industries, Arts Council funding boosted this project into being.
There have been many twists and turns along the way, with the most recent incarnation of Arts Derbyshire being an independent registered charity and now being governed by a Board of Trustees. Debbie has been there every step of the way and has built up an enormous network of knowledge, resources and people working in the arts in Derbyshire.
Debbie’s career has spanned more than 25 years in digital marketing, back to a time when the industry was just called ‘the internet’. A Fine Art graduate, her studies into what was called ‘Visual Research’ back in the early 90s, making work using non-traditional artistic formats such as video, sound, primitive computing systems and site-specific installation work became a sure-footed grounding in working on the world wide web thereafter.
Debbie is the Managing Director and owner of Destination Digital Marketing, based in Bakewell. Past arts-industry clients have included local organisations such as First Movement (now called LEVEL in Rowsley), Derbyshire Open Arts, Park Designs and Curiousa & Curiousa.
Having also held a position with Derbyshire County Council for over 13 years, as well as guiding Arts Derbyshire through that part of its life, she has also been responsible for running Made In Derbyshire since its launch in 2015 as well.
Debbie supports the Arts Derbyshire Trustees and Arts Team with helping them to get news of their work out to the web and social channels used by Arts Derbyshire, drawing upon her fabulous team at Destination Digital Marketing to help her achieve this.
