Festivity at Tapton Lock: Creativity Flows by the Water

We’re excited to bring Festivity to the tranquil surroundings of Tapton Lock, where art and nature meet beside the canal. This unique event will feature a weekend full of live music, storytelling, spoken word, interactive workshops, and a digital exhibition, all celebrating Derbyshire’s rich creative scene.

Come and explore, create, and connect in one of Chesterfield’s most picturesque settings.

🎶 Live Music

🖼️ Digital Exhibition

Our digital gallery continues to tour with Festivity, showcasing 11 talented visual artists from across Derbyshire, including:

🎤 Spoken Word

Curated by Derby Poetry Festival, the spoken word line-up brings together voices from across the region to share poetry and performance that speaks from the heart.

📚 Storytelling

Storytelling artists selected by Adverse Camber will take centre stage to spark imaginations, stir emotions, and bring people together through the power of the spoken tale.

🎨 Workshops

The Arts Derbyshire team will lead workshops throughout the weekend in the tented village, offering everyone the chance to get hands-on with arts activities inspired by the natural surroundings of Tapton Lock.

Stephen Munn, Director of Arts Derbyshire, said:
“Tapton Lock is a special place for reflection and connection, and Festivity will bring even more life, creativity, and joy to the water’s edge. We’re proud to be bringing together this fabulous group of artists, performers and creatives for our early September session.”

Jane Wells, of Tapton Lock Festival said:

Last year we had Tapton Mini, but I’m pleased to say the full festival is back! I’m delighted that Festivity is joining us to bring even more cultural experiences to Chesterfield. The festival favourites are back, plus lots more to see and do!

Pack a picnic, bring your creativity, and join us for a weekend by the canal!

Free entry – open to all ages.
