Suitable Garment to Clone

Suitable Garment to Clone

The Workshop

Due to popular demand, this workshop is BACK! Don’t delay … book today!

Our tutor, Melinda, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “We all have a favourite garment that we love to wear, which fits us perfectly but we have worn it so much it needs really replacing but it is no longer available.

This workshop will show you how to look at a garment, panel by panel, to break down its construction and make a pattern from it. It will also show you how you can adapt the design to your requirements for example, you might want to change the neckline or alter the sleeve length.

You will learn about different types of fabrics and how they are more suited to different garments along with some of the tools which are used in this process.

You will need to bring a garment with you which you would like to learn how to clone. It will need to be a fairly simple top/dress or skirt in a woven fabric … not stretchy/t-shirt fabric. It is possible to clone various types of garments but to learn the process it is best to stick to something more straight forward.

I will have several different garments which I can demonstrate the techniques on too.

During this session you will learn the process of how to make a pattern from an existing garment, hopefully creating the pattern itself in the workshop. You will not need to bring fabric with you, as we will not be making the actual garment.”
