Fun with Monsters: How to Turn Atypical Experiences into Imaginative Writing with Kit Whitfield

A participatory workshop open to everyone from beginnings to experienced writers. Novelist Kit Whitfield will discuss how we can turn our distinct social, sensory and emotional experiences into lively metaphors and fantastic incarnations. Workshoppers will be set a series of prompts and challenges to discuss and then given space to write short experimental pieces, which they can share (or not) in a supportive and positive environment. Come and play with the edges of your experience!

Kit Whitfield is an award-winning novelist; her most recent books are the Gyrford series, In The Heart of Hidden Things and All The Hollow of the Sky; her next, The Snakestone Girls, will be published in early 2027. She also writes film criticism for the multi-award nominated online magazine Ginger Nuts of Horror. She lives in London in a neurodiverse family.
