Henry Parker and Yumah at Libby’s Walled Garden Workshop

Event details

On Saturday 15th November 2025, Libby’s Walled Garden Workshop of Chesterfield invites you to an (indoor!) concert with some of our region’s great young stars. Doors open at 19:15 for a 19:30 start. Our gigs are seated in a cosy, cabaret-style atmosphere, and we aim to finish before 22:00.

Yumah is the nom-de-musique of Nottingham-based artist Lucy Morrow. Using only her voice and a looper pedal, she creates layered, kaleidoscopic vocal soundscapes. Her songs are evocative, ambient and hypnotic – and sometimes quietly amusing. We came across Yumah playing a gig with the wonderful Burd Ellen in Sheffield – we loved the way she coaxes beautiful music from a compact suitcase of electrickery – and we especially loved her song, Three Oranges, which you can hear at:

Henry Parker is kind enough to be paying us a visit direct from the 1970s – and yet he seems so young!

He describes himself as a “Progressive/Psych Folk Guitarist & Songwriter” and he’s built up quite a reputation, touring the country with the likes of David Ian Roberts and Joost Dijkema.

Henry’s contemporary take on folk, which he explores via thoughtful yet deeply accomplished guitar playing, unfurls and moves much like the landscape itself – mirroring the unpredictable, yet beautifully flowing, rolling hills and valleys of his native county of West Yorkshire. His musical roots go back to an upbringing in prog-rock and metal. However, enthralled at the age of 20 by the ethereal playing of Bert Jansch and Nick Drake, finger-picking and open tunings rapidly became the essence of his sound. The result is a strain of informed, progressive folk music found nowhere else.

Henry has recorded 2 albums: the eco-conscious ‘Silent Spring’ (2019) and ‘Lammas Fair’ (2021), bringing him to the forefront of the progressive folk music world. In 2023 he curated and recorded for American label Tompkins Square Records, bringing together a tribute album to Michael Chapman, one of his most important musical influences.

“His relaxed vocals and songwriting are as warm and open as his tunings” 8/10 Uncut Magazine

“What Parker does so effectively is to blend ancient with early-70’s and modern styles” Mojo ★★★★

“A really excellent young guitarist/ songwriter” Steve Tilston

Libby’s gigs take place indoors in a cabaret-style format in her Walled Garden Workshop (behind Libby’s Cafe at 479 Chatsworth Road), When we say “cabaret”, yes, we’re talking subdued lighting, tasteful decor, tables with candles, delicate savoury snacks (very often, sausage rolls, both meaty and vegetarian), fine wines, beers and soft drinks.. Places are limited, so book early!

If you have limited mobility or use a wheelchair we’d be most grateful if you could contact Libby’s beforehand, so that we can optimise the seating for you to have as comfy an evening as possible
