What's on
Residents of the High Peak have a fantastic chance to experience the atmosphere of the Last Night of the Proms right here in New Mills. This family event features New Mills Brass Band [one of the oldest, if not the oldest Brass Band in the country] playing a selection of rousing music old and new. The grand finale of the concert includes the sing along anthems traditionally played at the BBC’s last Night of the Proms.
Proms in the Park will be held at High Lea Park, St Mary’s Road, New Mills Parish Hall Field at on Sunday 14th September. Gates open 3:30pm. The event starts at 4pm with a performance of a number of popular songs by Buxton Community Choir.
Prom goers are invited to bring their chair, blanket, brolly [just in case] and a picnic although homemade cakes and drinks will be on sale and Ice Cream available from inside the Hall.
In addition, attendees have the chance to own a unique, Hedgehog inspired memory of the event – a lovely clock, hand-turned wooden bowl and pen holder by local Artist, Brian Bennett. You can win it in a raffle – but only at this event.
Other great prizes include meal vouchers donated by local restaurants.
