Shop up top of yard at Cromford Mills in Derbyshire.
Set within the UNESCO World Heritage site is a shop run by Sarah and her team selling wide range of yarn, fibre and some equipment alongside the art and creations of around 60 artists and makers.
It’s creative, colourful chaos, not your usual shop, full of personality and humour and more often than not happiness.
A creative commuKNITy has been created through knit clubs, workshops and banter with regular customers. Yes you will often hear Sarah shout get out my shop, don’t come back until you are wearing what you made, stop swearing (saying Hobbycraft) in my shop. You will be asked what you are making. There will be times the person serving you will try not to sell you things and talk you out of it. You will be told all about the person who made what you are buying and why. You will see tears, frustration, hear stories of woe and bad life choices and menopause. You will also be told jokes and laugh, sing and dance.
For my friends, it’s a happy place. My happy place that I created and you are welcome to come be a part of it. Even if you don’t knit, we will happily take your money off you.
Open every day 10.30-4pm up yard. Look for the colourful locks and spinning wheel.
