Mr Fox’s Grand Retirement Party

Mr Fox was overwhelmed with the response to his retirement party, with over 200 guests signing up to wish him farewell! He was very much looking forward to retiring from being handled, to a new display case. However, a delay to a materials delivery has meant his dream retirement home is not quite ready.

We’ve thought through as many options as possible, but we’ve reluctantly had to move the date of this re-opening celebration for the permanent exhibition space, Unearthed: Archaeology and Nature.

The new date is Friday 27 February, 5:45-8:30pm at The Museum on the Wardwick at Derby Museum and Art Gallery.

We appreciate how frustrating it is to have to re-organise your plans, however, we (and of course, especially Mr Fox) would be honoured if you could attend this new date.

To confirm your place and gallery tour slot, please visit bit.ly/NewDateDMUnearthedOpeningCelebration and book your ticket by Monday 23 February.

With doors opening at 5:45pm in The Wardwick at Derby Museum and Art Gallery, this event will celebrate the hard work that has gone into transforming the Nature and Archaeology Galleries with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. So come along to enjoy celebratory drinks and canapes, hear from Project Lead, Sadie Scott and Derby Museums’ Executive Director, Tony Butler, and join in some exciting activities. ‘Dig in’ to our mini archaeological excavation, time travel at the object handling station, and explore the new galleries on a tour.

Please feel free to bring your families along to this celebration. Confirm any children attending when booking your ticket.

Places booked up super quickly the first-time round, so secure your ticket as soon as possible (here’s your second chance!).

Thank you so much for your support of Derby Museums and for your understanding over the date change.

We very much hope you can join this celebration.
