The aim of this event is to gain inspiration from artists and creatives who have embedded sustainability into their own practice or the practices of their organisation. It is also about what support and frameworks are needed so that we can all take meaningful action to reduce our impact on the environment, whilst developing long lasting, regenerative practices. Join us for an earthy exchange of ideas and methodologies, from which we hope that positive change in the way we approach our work will come.
We have been doing this for some years already, with the help of organisations such as Julie’s Bicycle and The Theatre Green Book. However now is the moment to inspire and inform each other with how we have developed uniquely local solutions to local problems, which not only reduce our carbon emissions, save energy and reduce waste but lead to better outcomes for our people & our places as well as the planet.
I believe in the power of taking personal action to combat climate change and have focused on this in my own practice since 2020, when the pandemic provided a temporary portal through which one could envision two different versions of the future; one with and one without action on the climate crisis.
The time for courage is here, and we can all play our part in constructing a better, greener future, through co-creating an environmental manifesto for the arts and culture sector in Derbyshire. Joining me on the 30th of January will be a panel made up of three arts professionals – Emily Bowman, Lucy Bird and Anna Roebuck – who each in their own unique ways are inspiring a movement towards regenerative practice in their own spheres. Come along and hear what they are doing and how you can get involved in this very exciting initiative, and whilst you are with us you can take in the fantastic sensory garden in the grounds of LEVEL.
