A NEW PLAY BY KATHERINE SENIOR & DIRECTED BY SEÁN AYDON

VISITING BUXTON OPERA HOUSE TUE 17 – SAT 21 MARCH 2026.
Full casting is announced for Spitfire Girls, a new play written by Katherine Senior which visits Buxton Opera House from Tue 17 – Sat 21 March as part of a second major UK tour.
Joining original cast members Katherine Senior (‘Bett’), Kirsty Cox (‘Joy/C.O.’) and Jack Hulland (‘Dad/Frank’) are Hannah Morrison who will play ‘Dotty’, Katriona Brown sharing the role of ‘Bett’ and Paul Brown as ‘Tom/Jimmy’.
Hannah Morrison’s stage roles include Plaza Suite (Savoy Theatre) and Truth/Reconciliation (Old Red Lion Theatre/Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Katriona Brown’s previous UK tours include Crimes On Centre Court and Around The World In 80 Days and Paul Brown’s theatre credits include Mischief Comedy’s Groan Ups (Vaudeville Theatre), Paul in Potted Potter US and ROI tour and Lennox in Macbeth (Leeds Playhouse).
Tilted Wig is proud to have reflected the pioneering work of these incredible pilots by carving out new models of touring for working parents. It remains highly unusual for a leading role on a production of this scale and length to be shared. In recognition of this innovative approach, the company has collaborated with Parents and Carers in Performing Arts (PiPA) to produce a case study that captures the learning and impact of this practice.
Presented by Tilted Wig and Mayflower Southampton – in association with Theatre Royal Winchester: Part of Play to the Crowd – and directed by Seán Aydon with design by Sarah Beaton, the production has been developed with support from the National Theatre Generate Programme. The production has lighting by Peter Small and original music composed by Eamonn O’Dwyer, with movement direction by Stephen Moynihan. The Spitfire Girls team is proud to be working with the Royal British Legion.
