BEYOND THE SPECTURM – Creative writing workshops for autistic people, led by autistic writers.
Beyond The Spectrum is an exciting new Writing East Midlands project which will connect professional, autistic poets and authors with autistic people from age 11 upwards across the East Midlands.
Writers will lead a series of eight free, weekly creative writing workshops, which will start in January 2021. The workshops are suitable for autistic writers from beginners upwards (participants don’t need to have any creative writing experience.) All workshops will take place online, as uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic continues.
All participants need to do is register on the Beyond The Spectrum page on our website, or can follow the links on the e-flyer.
Registration closes on 20th December 2020.
The Ticket to Hope poetry film available for viewing on the Arts Derbyshire YouTube page.
Ticket to Hope is a community poem compiled in autumn 2020 by Helen Mort from the words of people who live, work or study in Derbyshire. They were asked to respond to the question ‘what does hope mean to you?’. Helen has curated these words into a new poem and short film which has incorporated as many people’s ideas as possible. Even words which didn’t directly make it into the poem have influenced the tone and mood of the piece and the images chosen for the film. Thank you to everyone who participated. This project was supported by Derbyshire County Council and Arts Derbyshire.
