Job Specification

Hours: 10 x hours per week + 2 x hours every three months to attend Management Committee meetings
Salary: £18,720 pro rata (£4,752 per annum)
Days: 2 x half days per week (specific days agreed after interview)
Times: 2 x regular 5 x hour shifts to be done between 9am – 5pm (specific times agreed after interview)
Location: Fleet Arts office, The Fleet, Belper, Derbyshire DE56 1NU
Supervisor: Arts Manager

 

Organisation information

Fleet Arts is a community arts charity that delivers projects, workshops and events across mid-Derbyshire, based in Belper. We also hire out our community venue to various groups, artists and musicians. The Arts Administrator will bring a range of strong organisational and media skills to assist the Manager in running Fleet Arts varied programme of work and the venue. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in the arts and experience in administration/media to join our small team and help build and support our creative organisation/venue. Applicants should have proven experience of working in an office environment and with the general public.

 

Job Role

  • General office, venue and project administration/organisation
  • Venue reception cover and running the venue/workshop booking system
  • Promoting our work through Social media and marketing avenues
  • Support the Arts Manager as required
  • Keeping up-to-date with current arts opportunities and assisting at some arts events (occasional evenings and weekends)
  • Supervising the Cleaner and ensuring the building is well maintained

Person specification

Essential Professional Skills/Experience:

  • Excellent administrative/organisational skills with an attention to detail, may include: minute taking, record keeping, office organisation, databases, telephone enquiries, project/diary bookings, Personnel/email correspondence, project and utility contracts, Good level of computer literacy including Word & Excel
  • Reception cover and/or work with the general public
  • Up-to-date knowledge and proven competence in using social media and other avenues for promoting/marketing
  • Flexibility to prioritise jobs and respond to new priorities given by the Manager
  • Researching (art) development opportunities/information, Attending and/or assisting at (cultural) events, Working (occasional) anti-social hours

Desirable Professional Skills/Experience:

  • Maintaining a (community) venue, including taking room bookings, studio Agreements, ensuring it is clean/safe, organising maintenance/repairs/cleaning/supplies, as required, Supervising staff/volunteers

Essential Personal qualities:

  • Working effectively to deadlines, Confidence in lone working and using own initiative to work unsupervised
  • Warm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with general public, staff and outside agencies
  • Self-motivated and keen to make positive improvements
  • The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a positive attitude within a small team/office/organisation
  • An active interest in the Arts and willingness to assist where necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Qualifications:
GCSE Maths & English or above
