Arts Derbyshire is recruiting for a Treasurer to join the board – but why should you become a trustee?

Charity trustees play a very important role in making sure that the charity is run in the interests of the people it is there to support. They strategically oversee the management and administration of the organisation. Trustees guide organisations towards their missions and ensure the effective stewardship of resources. So why become a trustee?

A trustee’s skills and experience are of value because…

• Trustees help to set the direction of the organisation and work closely with the Director or CEO.
• They’re strategic, and they’re an absolutely necessary part of any charity. As a trustee you have the chance to support and shape the work and strategic direction of an organisation, and make a significant difference to a cause that matters to you.
• It’s an opportunity for professional development: it can help you gain experience of strategy and leadership, including setting a strategic vision, influencing and negotiation, and managing risk. If you already have significant experience in these areas, it can be stimulating to use it in a different and potentially challenging context.
• It’s a rewarding way to help your community.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a registered charity working with arts organisations and artists across the county, and play a key role in shaping and supporting the work of the arts in Derbyshire.

While financial expertise is essential, experience in the arts is not required, and we welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds.
