It’s getting close now, with public booking for La traviata, The Merry Widow and the Jazz Weekender opening on Monday 15th December! Audiences will have the chance to secure seats for two iconic operatic works, each brought to life by world class artists on the Buxton stage. From the sweeping emotion of Verdi’s masterpiece to the sparkling wit of Lehár’s beloved operetta, this year’s opera offerings promise an unforgettable summer in Buxton. And with the return of the Jazz Weekender, curated by our new Jazz Director Wesley Stephenson, festival goers can look forward to four days packed with jazz. It’s shaping up to be a truly tremendous season.
Booking for all other events will be the usual staggered priority booking process from March and from mid-April for public.

The Festival proudly turns to one of opera’s greatest love stories. La traviata is Verdi at his most luminous and heartbreaking. Violetta, the glittering star of Parisian society, seems untouchable until Alfredo’s love offers her a glimpse of something real. But their world is unforgiving, and love like theirs comes at a price. This is an opera that sweeps you up from its very first notes. From the fizzing joy of the Brindisi to the rush of Sempre libera and the shattering final moments, it’s a work that has moved audiences for generations. A story of love, sacrifice and a society quick to judge, it’s as powerful now as it was at its premiere. Sung in Italian with English surtitles. Tickets will be available from here |

Feisty, fabulous and irresistibly charming, Hanna Glawari is a widow with wealth, wit and a flair for mischief. Her fortune makes her the target of suitors and of Don Zeta, who recruits the reluctant Danilo to make sure it stays out of the wrong hands. But Hanna and Danilo have a complicated history, and sparks fly as love and strategy collide. Lehár’s waltzing score is full of elegance, humour and charm, sweeping audiences into a world of romance, mischief and glittering society. It’s an operetta where hearts and fortunes are on the line – and cleverness, as much as love, rules the day. Sung in English with English surtitles. Tickets will be available from here |
