Free Raspberry Pi Foundation Coding Sessions for Community Groups

Interested in developing coding, digital making and digital literacy skills among the young people in your community?

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an educational charity based in the UK, working to increase access to digital skills and technologies for young people experiencing educational disadvantage.

We’re looking to partner with youth and community organisations working in underserved communities in the East Midlands, and provide them with free training, resources and support to start their own coding clubs for local young people. The training will be delivered online with one in-person workshop at the Derbyshire Makes Festival in April 2026. While our provision and support is free, we are looking for organisations that:

  • Are already engaging children and young people in regular activities or sessions
  • Can incorporate coding activities in their existing sessions/activities or introduce them as new activities
  • Have 2 or more staff/volunteers that are committed to attend the full training and deliver coding activities regularly after the training. The regularity will depend on what works for each individual organisation (i.e. monthly sessions, during half-term breaks, summer programmes etc)
  • Have the equipment for delivering coding sessions, such as laptops and reliable internet access. If they don’t have equipment at hand, they should at least have guaranteed regular access to that equipment (ie at a local library with computers and internet)
  • Will deliver their coding sessions for free or as part of a subsidised provision (we deeply believe that every child and young person should have access to developing coding and digital literacy skills)

For organisations that are interested, registrations will open in December.
