Upcycling and Repurposing Clothing: From Duvet to Dress!

Event details

Join Our Upcycled Clothing Transformation Workshop

Your tutor, Melinda, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing her creative, practical approach to upcycling old or unloved clothing into something completely new.

What You’ll Do

  • Explore upcycling ideas — from resizing garments to transforming them into entirely different items
  • Turn old textiles into new clothing using unwanted curtains, bedding or fabric you already own
  • Alter garments for a better fit through simple sewing techniques
  • Repurpose clothing creatively such as turning jeans into a skirt or a shirt into a bag
  • Add decorative elements like applique or hand embroidery
  • Bring your ideas to life using either the sewing machine or hand‑stitching

You Will Explore

  • Practical upcycling methods for re-imagining garments
  • Creative decision‑making based on the items participants bring
  • Examples from Melinda’s own work to spark inspiration
  • Sewing machine and hand‑sewing skills with tuition in both
  • Sustainable making principles and how to reduce textile waste

This Workshop Is Perfect For

  • Complete beginners – if adding decorative embellishments … resizing and altering clothing may be a little tricky with no sewing experience
  • People with a little sewing experience
  • Anyone who loves creative reuse and sustainable making
  • Those who enjoy experimenting with textiles and design

Melinda will guide you through each step, offering friendly support and practical demonstrations throughout the afternoon.

  • Expert tuition from an experienced upcycler
  • Use of sewing machines and hand‑stitching tools
