The Workshop
Your tutor, Julie, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “In this one day workshop you will be using a variety of chindi rags and colourful textiles stitched onto a calico or other base material. We will be using bondaweb which is a double-sided, iron-on adhesive to permanently bond our chosen fabrics together before we begin stitching. We will be using boro, running stitch, ladder and cross stitch fix our cloth down. The purse will be lined with attractive colourful cotton and stitched together using blanket stitch. We will make a loop fastening for a beautiful button.
At the end of the session, you will take a way a beautiful rag textile purse.” A gorgeous present for your bestie … or better still keep for yourself!
What is the cost?
£75 + £1.40 card fee This includes all the materials needed to make your purse and refreshments during the day (excluding lunch)
How many places are available?
To ensure the quality of your personal experience, the group size is limited to 8.
What are the timings?
This is a intriguing, colourful, happy, full-day running from 10am to 4pm.
Our purple front door will be open from 9.30am so we can welcome you in, you can get to meet Julie and your fellow crafters and grab a cuppa before you start.
What skills are needed?
No experience is necessary.
Julie will show you how to create your purse and the different stitches required.
You will be using needles, thread, scissors and a small iron.
What to bring on the day?
Anticipation to enjoy the whole experience!
Specific to this workshop:
Please bring your own lunch or some money to buy something from either the hot-food hut nearby or the small local Asda. We will be providing drinks and home-made biscuits throughout the day.
We want you to go home with a spring in your step and feel really good about what you have achieved. To make sure we can thoroughly look after you during your workshop please fill in your booking form with all the things that will help, be it your favourite milk, or any extra support you may require. Please also let us know of allergies that we may need to highlight to your fellow crafters e.g. nuts, perfume. Many thanks.
