The Workshop

Join us for a relaxing session learning how to make a stunning hand felted pumpkin using wool fibres and the dry needle felting method. Located in our converted chapel at Our Crafty Place in Ilkeston, you will spend time relaxing and enjoying time just for you.

Our exceptionally talented tutor Rachel will guide you through the felting process and the handling of the wool fibres to create your own unique 3D pumpkin! Rachel, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “Spend a relaxing time learning the art of felt making, as you create your beautiful pumpkin using wool fibres and the dry needle felting method. Not only beautiful to look at but your pumpkin will make a wonderful handcrafted gift made by you or an attractive decoration for your own Halloween display. Attendance numbers are kept small to enable me to give you the one-on-one time and attention to explore your creativity, so by the end of your session, you will not only have learnt a new skill but have completed your handmade pumpkin. All materials and tools are included. ”

What to bring on the day?

Anticipation to enjoy the whole experience!

Specific to this workshop:

What skills are needed?

No experience is necessary. This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners or people who want a new project. You will be using a repetitive up and down action into your wool with a felting needle. The needle has a comfortable handle. At the same time, with your other hand, you will be holding onto and shaping the wool. You need a certain degree of concentration to make sure you keep the needle from pricking your other hand, As soon as you get into the swing of it, you should find it a soothing, mindful process.
