What's on
This is a joyful 3-hour session creating beautiful seasonal artwork using vibrant alcohol inks – with the additional option of turning your design into a set of professionally printed Christmas cards!
Your tutor, Karen, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “Come and enjoy a relaxed, artful morning creating your own festive picture using flowing alcohol inks and bold, colourful backgrounds. We’ll be working with alcohol ink pens and splashes of alcohol on yupo paper to create rich, winter foliage designs inspired by holly, ivy and bright red berries.
During the session, you’ll create one or more unique artworks to take home with you – ready to frame and bring out each Christmas, or to turn into a special handmade card for someone you love.
And if you’d like to take things a step further…
There’ll also be an optional opportunity to have your design photographed and turned into a set of beautifully printed Christmas cards – the same quality as the Millie Moth ranges. These would be 150mm square, printed on thick, subtly textured FSC certified card, with kraft envelopes. You’ll also be able to add your own text or photos if you’d like, and you can work on those options with me during the workshop.
📬 Optional card printing add-on (available to order on the day):
– 6 cards from your chosen design: £12
– Additional packs of 6 available if you’d like more: £10
There’s absolutely no pressure to go for the printing option – the workshop is designed to be a complete and inspiring creative experience in itself, with or without it. If you do choose it, I will take your artwork (and photo if applicable) away on the day to photograph and design as a card. It would then be sent away to be professionally printed and you would receive your cards, original artwork (& photo if applicable) through the post by the end of November/beginning of December ready to send out this Christmas.”
Anticipation to enjoy the whole experience!
Specific to this workshop:
No experience is necessary.
During the session, we’ll be using 91% isopropyl alcohol as part of the painting process. You’ll use it sparingly—dripping a few drops onto your artwork and occasionally spraying a fine mist over the surface. Some people notice the smell (Karen is completely used to it now!), and we’ll do our best to keep the room well ventilated if needed.
There’s also a bit of gentle blowing through a straw involved—just something to keep in mind if you’re prone to breathlessness or lightheadedness. If that sounds tricky, Karen can provide a small hand-pump blower as an alternative.
While this technique generally isn’t messy, alcohol inks can stain clothing. They’re not harmful if they get on your skin.
This is a relaxed, morning running from 10am to 1pm.
Our purple front door will be open from 9.30am so we can welcome you in, you can get to meet Karen and your fellow crafters and grab a cuppa before you start.
To ensure the quality of your personal experience, the group size is limited to 15.
£42 + 89p card fee. This includes all the materials needed to make the image for your Christmas cards, drinks and home-made biscuits during the morning (excluding lunch)
We want you to go home with a spring in your step and feel really good about what you have achieved. To make sure we can thoroughly look after you during your workshop please fill in your booking form with all the things that will help, be it your favourite milk, or any extra support you may require. Please also let us know of allergies that we may need to highlight to your fellow crafters e.g. nuts, perfume. Many thanks.
