Jazz on a summer’s day

Jazz on a Summer’s  Day was filmed at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1958 and remains one of the great music documentaries. Recently remastered in 4K it features performances by jazz giants such as Thelonious Monk, Louis Armstrong and Gerry Mulligan. Singers Anita O’Day and Dinah Washington are among the highlights and Mahalia Jackson brings matters to a conclusion with a towering rendition of the Lord’s Prayer. Screening starts at 7.30pm.
