Words Unwound: Writing Ourselves into the World with AccessAbility Arts

Event details

This access-led spoken word workshop centres disabled and neurodivergent lived experience, using poetry as a tool for self-expression, agency, and narrative control.

The session is designed to be calm, flexible, and low-pressure, with multiple ways to participate (writing, listening, thinking, or sharing).

No previous writing or performance experience is required.

AccessAbility Arts is a Midlands-based unincorporated association championing inclusive and accessible creativity,  providing opportunities for people of all abilities to express themselves through spoken word, writing, exhibitions, workshops, talks, and publishing initiatives.

Co-founded by DK and Lisa, the organisation is driven by lived experience, artistic excellence, and a strong commitment to breaking down barriers in the arts. ‘Words Unwound’ is Beyond the Spectrum’s 2026 online festival, a week-long series of workshops and talks for writers who want to slow down, reflect, and create in their authentic voice.

The festival runs from Monday 23rd March until Saturday 28th March 2026.
