Words Unwound: Sub Club with Susie Wilson

In this workshop, you’ll read samples of poetry magazines and find out which ones would make good homes for your poems. Together, you’ll learn exclusive Editor’s Tips and address the most common issues you’ll face when submitting to magazines, including how to write a good cover letter and how to choose which poems to send in.

Susie Wilson, half poet, half tutor, half clown, is a Scottish LGBTQ+ writer living in Sheffield, who has published two pamphlets, Nowhere Near As Safe As A Snake In Bed (Verve Poetry Press, winner of the Disabled Poets Prize 2024) and Skin the Rabbit (The Braag, 2025). She is now spending a year writing about rivers, collaborating with musicians and other performers, funded by the Arts Council. She teaches for Beyond the Spectrum and facilitates Poetry Sub Club for Manchester Poetry Library and Sheffield Central Library. See more @concordmoose and www.susiewilsonpoet.com.

 

‘Words Unwound’ is Beyond the Spectrum’s 2026 online festival, a week-long series of workshops and talks for writers who want to slow down, reflect, and create in their authentic voice.

 

The festival runs from Monday 23rd March until Saturday 28th March 2026.
