What's on
Threads of Welcome invites members of the Ukrainian and refugee community to come together, share their experiences, and contribute to the Stitching Ashbourne project. Participants will create appliqué and embroidered pieces reflecting their journey and their connection to Ashbourne, helping to make our collaborative artwork even more vibrant and inclusive. A welcoming, friendly session celebrating creativity, storytelling, and the important role everyone plays in our community.
Stitching Ashbourne is about community, creativity, and connection. Together, we will create a large-scale embroidered textile work that celebrates the built and cultural heritage of Ashbourne.
Surrounding a centerpiece depicting some of Ashbourne’s most iconic buildings will be over 100 hand-stitched squares, each one telling a unique story, memory, or celebration of what Ashbourne means to its people. Whether you’re 6 or 95, this is your chance to stitch your story into Ashbourne’s history.
Come along, bring a friend, and be part of something truly special. Together, we’ll stitch Ashbourne’s story.
This and all Stitching Ashbourne workshops are free to attend. Donations towards the project are very welcome via our crowdfunding page. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/stitching-ashbourne
