Earn a Blue Peter Book Badge with Shared Reading and Derby Libraries!

Event details

This half-term, children aged 5-7 have the amazing opportunity to earn their very own Blue Peter Book badge through a series of special Shared Reading sessions hosted at three Derby libraries!

Looking for a fun and interactive activity to keep the young ones entertained during the October half term break? Bring them along to one of our free Blue Peter Shared Reading sessions. Led by our wonderful trained volunteers, the sessions will feature lively performances of poems from ‘Poems Aloud’ by Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho. We’ll also help children start their application for their very own Blue Peter badge!

Here’s what to expect:

  • We’ll begin by listening to some delightful poems from Poems Aloud and sharing our ideas.
  • Our Shared Reading volunteers will guide children as they create a drawing inspired by the front cover of this colourful book. Don’t worry, there’s no need for perfection—just creativity!
  • After the drawing, we’ll walk you through how to complete a simple book review at home, which will be the final step to submit the application for the Blue Peter Book badge. It’s that easy!

What to bring? Just a smile and a willingness to join in the fun! We’ll provide everything else, from pens and forms to silly voices and lots of creativity. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Spaces are limited, so be sure to book ahead! Contact the library directly by phone or email to reserve your spot:
