On 18th September 2024, the Creative Dementia Research Group will host a
Knowledge Cafe. This event will celebrate the culmination of an innovative
creative arts-based approach to assisting individuals with younger onset
dementia and their families to enhance interpersonal engagement and
personhood.
People with younger onset dementia require community-based services that
cater to their specific needs, emphasizing family dynamics, social interaction,
and preserving individual identity. Our work explored the benefits of Neuro Dramatic Play (NDP) as a novel creative art, drama, play and movement method
to engage people with younger onset dementia in imaginative interactions and
meaningful expressions of self. The Knowledge Cafe will present insights from
this project, including recruitment challenges, the significance of a
collaborative consultation group involving the dementia community, key data
themes, and a strategy for expanding this distinctive approach.

fostering creativity and imagination in individuals with younger onset dementia
and their families. By attending this event, you will have the opportunity to
actively participate in planning and development of future NDP research
focused on younger onset dementia. Through collaborative discussions, you
will contribute your insights, and expertise to ensure the research addresses
key challenges and priorities in the field.
