Behind the Pane: A Youth Mental Health Exhibition

Event details

Children and young people’s mental health was one of the highest priorities raised in our Annual Survey — and it’s where we’re starting 2026.

Opening from 10-12 February in Chesterfield, Behind the Pane is a powerful youth-led exhibition created by children and young people from across Derbyshire.

Behind the Pane brings together artwork by young people across Derbyshire, offering windows into how they experience their mental health. Each piece hangs as a window, a view from their side, reflecting what they see, feel, and live with. These works ask the grown ups to slow down, look closer, and listen. Not to fix or explain, but to understand. Because panes can be seen through. And when we choose to really look, connection becomes possible.

Hosted by FutureMinds Collective, the exhibition centres lived experience and highlights why early, well-funded community support for CYP mental health is more important than ever.
