The Art That Difference Makes at Peak Village

Our pop-up exhibition at Peak Village opens on Thursday 18 May showing some of the visual art exhibitions from Level over the last year or so. Pop along on a Thursday, Saturday or Sunday to see Making Faces, Level In Layers, After I Died, Radical Bodies and Sick Gaze all in one room!
Nature Machine

Inspired by Derbyshire’s landscape and history, Nature Machine by Brew Projects is an accessible sensory experience for visitors of all ages. With immersive projections that will change as the exhibition evolves and a curious cabinet full of surprises to delight the senses.

“Lovely exhibition, I got lost in the cabinet and mesmerised by the lights”.

The installation is at Level until 1 September. Tickets are free, but please book in advance.

Radical Bodies

From PIP assessments, to media representation, to the opinions of strangers on the bus; so much of life as a disabled person is defined by the ways that other people see them. Consciously or not, most people have ideas about how they expect disabled people to look. Those who meet these expectations find that their abilities are dismissed, while those who fail to meet them find that their struggles are disregarded.

Curated by disability arts organisation Radical Body, Radical Bodies provides an opportunity for disabled people to define their own image through self-portraits. In sharing them, you’re invited to consider disabled people as they wish to be seen, rather than how you expect them to appear.

The exhibition is showing at Level until 1 September. No need to book, but please give us a call on: 01629 734848 to check that the building is open.
