Tarpey Gallery Open 2021 – Call For Entries

About the Open

Tarpey Gallery Open 2021 takes over from the Midlands Open which ran from 2009 – 2017 and will be a more streamlined affair with online applications, a four week duration and a more minimal hang. Entries will be open to all artists working in the UK. Any medium will be accepted. Entries are open from the 25th August – 25th September 2021 and the exhibition will take place from 23rd Oct – 14th November 2021.

Some notes about entering

Selected work will be on display in three exhibition spaces; Main gallery, secondary and upstairs gallery spaces. We generally hang around 70 pieces in these 3 spaces so the final show will likely consist of around 50-70 artists’ work. I will prioritise picking another artist’s work over choosing 2 by the same artist if the standard of work is similar (reflected in the entry fee).. Smaller pieces will have a higher chance of getting in than very large works (over 1.5m). The last year we put the Midlands Open on we had around 150 artists enter. Size : Please measure the work with the frame if framed. By entering you give us permission to use any uploaded image for publicity.

Prize

We will invite multiple artists to take part in next year’s exhibition programme from the Open exhibitants. A list of those selected will be published alongside the Open Exhibiting Artists. There is no limit in this. Though our vision is to primarily support and showcase artists in the midlands region we do and will continue to show artists work from outside the area, this is an Open for any artists who want to be involved with and support the gallery.

Entry Fee

Each artist may submit up to Two pieces. The fee is £10 for either 1 or 2 pieces.

26th – 30th September : Judging

1st October : Exhibiting artists list published online

9th – 14th October : Delivery

23rd Oct : Exhibition launch event

14th November : Exhibition ends

16th – 21st November : Unsold work collected
