Lunchtime Learning, Award winner, Living Wage, community stories and more | Grassroots Giving Newsletter

Whilst it might be the peak of Summer, here at Localgiving we are still very busy. Our latest Community Matters Fund with National Grid has just closed, with another edition of this exciting grant coming later in the year.

We’ve found the winner of the Anjool Maldé Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 – Colette Batten-Turner, CEO of Conversation Over Borders who on picking up her prize told us: “At a time when displaced people in the UK face growing hostility, it means so much to see a vision of solidarity, care, and community-led change being celebrated. Through lived experience-led English classes, trauma-informed mental health and digital inclusion support, and bold campaigning for systemic change, we’re working to build a more inclusive and welcoming society.”

The team have also confirmed our latest slice of Lunchtime Learning – An introduction to effective charity communications and marketing – taking place at 12 noon on Tuesday 16th September. In our digital age, where people are time poor and with increasingly limited attention spans, being able to efficiently and directly communicate what you do becomes more important than ever. So, register today for free.

August 6th saw us celebrate our 10th anniversary being a Living Wage Employer. Since August 2015, we’ve ensured that all our directly employed and regular third-party staff have received at least a real Living Wage. Read more about what this means, and how you can be one too.

We’ve also continued to publish stories focused on awardees of the Community Matters Fund (Future Skills) earlier in the year – Breaking Barriers joining Redberth Croft CIC, Quetzal and Walk. Take a look now for some inspirational insights into projects, challenges and impactful results.

Don’t forget to check our Community Noticeboard and please let me know all your thoughts and ideas for Localgiving – we are here to support you. Our goal is to continuously enhance our offering and continue to support the amazing work you do.
