Invitation to a Christmas Community Concert By The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir

The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir is celebrating its 120th Anniversary this year, having been formed way back in 1903 and have a busy programme of concerts throughout the year in celebration.

The choir are delighted to present a Community Christmas Concert at St. James Church, Church Street, Riddings, DE55 4BX on Saturday 9 December 2023 at 6:30 p.m., sponsored by Derbyshire County Council.

As you walk to the church you will hear the chime of the carillon bells welcoming you to this festive concert. Enjoy a relaxing evening’s entertainment in the atmosphere of this beautiful church, adorned with its Christmas tree and decorations.

The choir will first sing a selection of some of its most requested songs from its repertoire and then provide a full Christmas concert. You will also have an opportunity to sing along with the choir and wonderful church organ to your favourite carols.

Entry is free, but a rising collection will be taken at the end of the concert. Give only what you can afford. All donations made will benefit the church building maintenance fund. Seasonal refreshments will also be available and raffle.

Everyone is welcome! Please come along with family and friends.

The choir have already been on tour this year to the Lake District performing in two concerts at Shap and Appleby Churches and also taken part in a major festival of male voice singing at Derby Cathedral, so why not come along and enter into the Christmas spirit in this traditional way.

Most of the choirs’ concerts take place locally in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire; frequently helping raise funds for charities and worthy causes. Whether singing at prestigious venues with large audiences or to small groups of individuals in any setting, the choir aim to achieve high level of performance and entertainment and have a number of talented soloists.

Why not join the choir and start a new activity? It could not be easier. It’s fun, good for your health and wellbeing, and you will make new friends and put a smile on your face as you blend your voice with others. Whether you are experienced, or a non-experienced singer of any age, you will be made to feel equally welcome and given every help and assistance. Every type of male voice is needed, especially bass (low voices) and tenors (high voices).

The choir practice at the Dale Club, Jacksdale, every Monday evening at 7.30 p.m., other than Bank Holiday weeks. Why not come along and give it a go? You have nothing to lose, but a great deal to gain.
