As part of the mining memorial at Markham Vale remembering the 106 miners who lost their lives in the major disasters of 1937, 1938 and 1973 a grant has been secured from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver ‘10 years of the Walking Together’ which will enable us to celebrate the memorial’s completion, remember the miners and highlight all those involved – the volunteers, relatives, community members, schools, the artist, fabricators and businesses who have all contributed time, money and passion.
Within this funding we have commissioned artist Angie Hardwick to deliver a series of workshops to create ceramic medals for each of the 106 miners which will be temporarily displayed as part of the final celebration event. The workshops will be on 15th Aug at Bolsover library. 10.30am-12.30pm
