The Art of Well Being is a series of creative workshops designed specifically to create, support and promote health and well being via the arts. The workshops are held in our beautiful and peaceful gallery space by qualified creative expressive practitioners.
The series of The Art of Wellbeing workshops are co facilitated by Ella Meredith and Rachael Pinks.
Rachael and Ella met whilst working at the infamous Scarthin Books in the village. A shared love of art, creativity, wellbeing, books and good cake/coffee brought them together to create this programme of creative workshops.
Rachael has lived in Cromford for the last 16 years and Derbyshire for over 20 years. She graduated from Derby University with a BA Hons in Arts Therapies. Passionate about the arts, mindfulness and wellbeing she took voluntary redundancy in 2011 from her career in social care to pursue her dream. She is now living it: an artist, curator, gallerist, creative expressive arts facilitator and mindfulness trainee teacher at The Old Lock Up Gallery.
Ella moved to Derbyshire over 8 years ago to study Creative Expressive Therapies (BA) and Art Therapy (MA) at Derby University, and has since made it her home. When she is not working at Scarthin Books, she can be found working for Transform Training, a Midlands based charity. Here she delivers emotional education workshops to children and young people in schools and the community, as well as supporting individuals with learning disabilities with emotional wellbeing and employability. She finds her work hugely rewarding and believes that everyone can benefit from creativity and connection, to enhance their wellbeing.
Join Ella Daisy and Rachael Pinks at The Old Lock Up Gallery for a day of self expression and creative exploration.
Purpose: To explore expressing yourself creatively, via movement, music and mark making, without inhibitions.
The workshop will provide a chance to explore creative self expression via a variety of creative processes – including mark making, movement and 2D work. An opportunity to try new things, express yourself in a safe space, connect and share your experiences with others. And move from – What does it look like to how does it feel – from judgement towards feeling.
