Adventures galore for children at Buxton Fringe

A vibrant Children’s Events section offers adventures galore at this year’s Buxton Fringe (July 5-23).

Families can venture into Gadley Wood to see Babbling Vagabonds’ outdoor production The Wagon of Wonder or make fabulous creatures in the Pavilion Gardens with Stone and Water and their latest Tiny! workshop.

Ashgate Heritage Arts presents Mountains of the Moon, a family-friendly musical with an environmental message at the Lee Wood Hotel while DoDo DRAMATICS, the UK’s first zero-waste puppetry performance company, presents a historical musical, Queen of the East at the Rotunda.

Also at the Rotunda, Ingenious Fools offers Blue Badge Bunch Reramped, an interactive kids’ game show where each game represents a disability. Over at nearby Underground at The Old Clubhouse, Jody Kamali presents Mr Sleepybum re-enacting some of his favourite dreams in a high-energy comedy show, while award-winning comedian Daniel Nicholas offers Birthday Party, a show designed to celebrate all birthdays everywhere!

Parents should be aware that there are plenty of shows outside the Children’s Events category that could be suitable for young people. Fringe performers have put smiley faces against shows that they believe to be family-friendly. The Fringe’s own promotions including Fringe Sunday and its carnival float are among those entries with welcoming smiley faces.

For further information, audiences should see, download the free Fringe App or visit the friendly Fringe Information Desk in the Pavilion Gardens, open daily from 10-5pm and the place to pick up a printed programme and a cool Fringe badge!

For families on a budget, the Fringe also rounds up all its free shows in Fringe for Free (under What’s On) on the website.

Fringe Marketing Officer Stephanie Billen says: “For the young, or young at heart, the Fringe has so much to offer!”

The Fringe wishes to thank High Peak Borough Council, its Fringe Friends and the town’s many Fringe supporters and venues.
