‘Black Harry’ Book Launch at Glossop Labour Club

7.30 pm Thursday 16th March, upstairs in Glossop Labour Club.
This novel tells the story – inevitably fictionalised, but historically accurate as far as records allow – of Glossopdale’s Elizabethan folk hero, Harry Botham, who stood up against Lord Shrewsbury’s swingeing rent rises on our tenant farmers by taking his protest to Elizabeth’s Privy Council in London!
The publishers will start the launch by talking about the book and interviewing the author briefly. Then we’ll have a few short readings from the text, followed by an interval so everyone can top up their drinks (the bar downstairs will be open). After the interval the author will undergo questions from the audience, and we’ll have a final reading, with a view to finishing by 9.30.
There will be copies of the book to buy, which can be signed
