Music in Quiet Places

As part of our ‘Arts In Health’ programme, and following the success of a visual arts project last year, we continue to work in partnership with Air Arts, this year taking diverse performing arts to the hospital.

Last week’s performance ‘Music in Quiet Places’ at the Royal Derby Hospital, was very special. Sufi music by Rubaya and Indian classical dance, Kathak, performed by Mohika Shankar, were both very beautiful. The artists performed in the lift lobby and canteen area, and while neither had ever performed in a place like this before, “it felt good and we were humbled.” They provided the hospital patients, staff members and visitors, enjoyment and distraction from their day-to-day health issues and anxieties, and transported them to a space of mindfulness.

Thanks to our partners, Air Arts, for making it possible. It really made our day receiving all the positive feedback afterwards from patients, visitors and nurses….absolutely worth it!
