Junction Arts are looking for two exceptional part-time Wellbeing Coordinators to join the Junction Arts team on a fixed term contract (18 month) basis. The Wellbeing Coordinators will be intrinsic to the delivery of a new arts and wellbeing programme, Six Pillars, supporting young people across Bolsover and North East Derbyshire districts.
The emotional wellbeing of children and young people is a priority in Derbyshire. There has been a significant reduction in statutory provision of youth services and support for young people in recent years at a local and community level. In addition, COVID-19 has impacted upon the mental health and wellbeing of many children and young people, leaving many experiencing feelings of isolation and anxiety.
The Healthy North East Derbyshire and Bolsover Partnerships that sit within North East Derbyshire District Council and Bolsover District Council, are collaborating in the delivery of this project, in supporting the emotional wellbeing of young people across six geographical areas within these two localities.
Junction Arts (JA) and Direct Education Business Partnership (DEBP) will collaborate on the delivery of this new exciting arts and wellbeing programme, developed for and with young people across North East Derbyshire and Bolsover District. Both organisations have developed effective partnerships and a resilient infrastructure for delivering community engagement projects in the districts and wider county of Derbyshire.
We believe that community-based arts activities help children and young people explore identities, improve self-esteem and increase coping strategies.
The Six Pillars programme aims to engage young people from six identified geographical areas within Bolsover district and North East Derbyshire to co-design six artistic residencies, developed through collaboration and conversation with Junction Arts, Direct Education Business Partnership, young people, wellbeing coordinators and local artists. Young people, aged between 11-18 years (up to 25 for SEND young people), will be supported to build skills and confidence and become the six pillars to their own positive self-esteem and healthy futures.
Throughout a series of introduction and taster arts activities in early 2023, the young people will be provided with the opportunity to meet and work with experienced artists and supporting facilitators. Together we will explore a variety of art mediums and wellbeing activities to assist our community participants to explore their interests, develop confidence, articulate their ideas, and shape their self-esteem. With the support of the Junction Arts team, the young people involved in this project will develop a creative platform for their voices to be heard and talents to be shared.
The deadline to apply for this position is Monday the 31st October (10am).
