Spotlight On… Non-Prescriptive

NON-PRESCRIPTIVE is Arts Derbyshire’s Living Newspaper – the first edition was published in July 2025 and printed with 2,000 copies circulated, alongside the digital version which is freely available to access online.

Whilst the newspaper is targeted at those who work with / within social prescribing and the primary care network, there’s an abundance of interesting content that can inspire and educate more broadly on the work that is going on across medicine, arts, culture, sports and beyond to support non-medical approached to health and wellbeing.

This month, we would like to spotlight an article written by Arts Derbyshire’s Social Prescribing Development Manager – Deborah Munt and artist Kate Genever, alongside Sara Bains – Erewash Primary Care Network’s Wellness, Resilience and Inequalities Lead – focussing the development of Erewash PCN’s Vision for Non-Medical Approaches.

The above article on pages 26 to 28 gives an overview of a development day facilitated by artist Kate Genever, attended by social prescribers, PCN leaders, mental health workers and the CEO of Erewash Voluntary Action. It’s a great insight into this primary care network’s desire to embrace and support non-medical approaches to wellness, and how this directly informed and feeds into our work with Creatives in Place.

We are delighted to have Sara and her colleagues at Littlewick Medical Centre and Erewash are one of our partners for the Creatives in Place pilot.
