NON-PRESCRIPTIVE is Arts Derbyshire’s Living Newspaper – the first edition was published in July 2025 and printed 2,000 copies, circulated alongside the digital version, which is freely available to access online. Whilst the newspaper is targeted at those who work with/within social prescribing and the primary care network, there’s an abundance of interesting content that can inspire and educate more broadly on the work that is going on across medicine, arts, culture, sports and beyond to support a non-medical approach to health and wellbeing.
So, this month, we would like to spotlight an article written by Dr Penny Blackwell, who is the lead GP at Hannage Brook Medical Centre and one of our GP partners for the Creatives in Place pilot.
In the article, Penny talks about her practice, their community approach, creativity, rubbish lift syndrome and what’s next for social prescribing… It’s a great insight into her work and approach, and why we are so pleased to have Hannage Brook Medical Centre as our Creatives in Place partner in Wirksworth!
