The pandemic impacted on the health and wellbeing of the UK population exacerbating social isolation particularly for people with chronic and life limiting illness, including those living with dementia. As social restrictions lift, we know that many adults and older people will now be even harder to reach. The pandemic has fundamentally altered how we practice and what skills and knowledge we require to meet post pandemic needs in communities, care homes, and hospitals as well as in work with arts and cultural venues.

This event will explore the changed practice landscape and enable us to share and identify training needs, in particular in relation to arts and dementia workforce development. We will hear from invited speakers in a panel on pandemic reflections, best practice and training:

  • Donna Baber, Arts Programme Manager, North Bristol NHS Trust
  • Dr. Richard Coaten, Dancer and Dance Psychotherapist. Movement Matters
  • Dr. Rosie Mead, Founder Director, Musica CIC
  • Kate Wilkinson, Community Musician and CDAN Music Lead

Julia Puebla Fortier, Research Associate, AHSW, will introduce workforce development and the south west Creative Health Learning Alliance. Maria Pasiecznik Parsons, Director, Creative Dementia Arts Network, will present training for arts and dementia, FLOURISH and the New Creative Arts Practice Handbook.

Attendees will have an opportunity to share their experiences and discuss training needs in break out groups.

We look forward to welcoming you online on the Thursday 3rd March!
