Culture and social prescribing in Derbyshire: can we shape a better vision?

Versions of social prescribing have existed in the culture sector for 30+ years.  We might not have called it that (let’s face it, we don’t tend towards prescriptive in the creative sector!), but along with members of the VCSE sector, we forged the way and campaigned for social approaches to health and wellbeing, not just medical ones.  BUT…we know that investment in the infrastructure of NHS Link Workers has not come with investment to fund social provision or a fulsome cross-sector ecosystem. We know also that the NHS version is not the only one in operation.

So what should and could the future of social prescribing look like in Derbyshire? 

Arts Derbyshire are facilitating some cross sector work to develop this vision.  Join us to find out more and to explore:

• What role could and should the culture sector play?
• What are we all already doing and what we can learn from that?
• How might we coalesce our efforts to open up access to arts and culture (to existing social prescribers and their patients and communities) and actively shape what a progressive approach to social prescribing, in the biggest sense, could look like?
• What do we really need to make it work for everyone?
