We’re urging older and vulnerable residents across Derbyshire to be on their guard against unsolicited phone calls claiming to be from a community alarm company.
Our Trading Standards officers have been made aware of several instances where the caller tries to get a resident to make a payment over the phone, telling them their existing alarm company has gone bust and they’ve taken over the contract.
Other examples of calls have claimed the resident’s community alarm will be disconnected unless they pay up immediately or asking to update card payment details.
If you have any vulnerable or older people in your family or neighbourhood please let them know. You could save them from becoming a victim.
