Derbyshire Sings

During the COVID 19 pandemic Derbyshire Libraries submitted an ambitious bid to Arts Council England for the project Derbyshire Sings. The project sought to engage with current library customers, sharing their experiences and thoughts around the importance of libraries. These then would be crafted into song that could be used to promote libraries and their impact to the wider community. The bid was successful, and over recent months Carole Copeland from the Pomegranate Theatre has been hosting virtual workshops with groups of customers to find out more about the brilliant service we provide. She worked with Rob Laughlin to create lyrics and a soundtrack with was produced by Jonathan Francis from Chesterfield Studios. The track ‘At the Library’, recorded by the Rose Choir, is available to listen to on our YouTube Channel https://youtu.be/qf7ZEWYfF0g. Copies of the track will now be distributed to our Home Library Service customers and in libraries.
