Community Mapping Event

Tues 18 April, 11:30am -1pm
Online via Zoom
or in person at Greenwich Park Sports Pavilion, Ripley DE5 3BT

We have been offered the chance to map community action in Amber Valley for free as part of a Lottery funded project, called Understory. Understory is a tool for us to map the network of relationships that support our organisations and people. It builds community strength by helping a community to understand itself better. Together we want to create a map that will enable us to see who we have here in the community, what goals everyone is working towards, and how each of our organisations connect. Understory has been designed by Onion Collective and Free Ice Cream.

You can find out more here: https://understory.community

We would like as many local organisations as possible to participate, if you are interested, please email: hello@wearemakeshift.uk

Make/Shift and Amber Valley CVS are collaborating to host this opportunity to map community action in the Amber Valley. Make/Shift is a new 10-year action research project led by a consortium of partners, focused on creating space for more people to make, do, create, repair, grow, share, care for and connect with what matters to them in the places that they live.

You will be attending the workshop as a representative of the group or organisation you work with. During the session, you will be asked to answer a number of questions. These questions will include the name of your organisation; which individuals are important to your work; what organisations or groups are important to your work. And lastly, what purpose(s) your group or organisation is working towards. The map will be made together in an online/in-person meeting – with the option to take part in whichever version you are most comfortable with. We would like as many local organisations to participate as possible.  We invite you to get involved and help reveal the hidden connections that bind together the Amber Valley.
