Creative Melbourne Gallery has opened its callout for its Spaces to Create project, promoting a programme running between August 2023 and May 2024 to support a number of creative individuals to develop their practice into small sustainable businesses.
The gallery is offering space to work in the gallery and a programme including mentoring and workshops, covering topics such as applying for grant funding, aimed at helping the successful applicant start-up in the creative industry without a lot of the usual cost of overheads in setting up a small business. The gallery also provides an excellent opportunity for networking with similar-minded artists.
It will appeal to those who are moving from training to employment, for instance those leaving college or university, anyone who aspires to become self-supporting from creative practice, or perhaps younger people who are looking for a “gap year” opportunity aiming longer term at a career in the creative industry. It is not solely for artists but will appeal to the wider creative spectrum, such as writers, or game
designers.
