The Holi Hai! is an international residency that took place in India and the UK. It was a collaborative partnership between Artcore and FORMAT. The residency supported the creative collaboration and exchange of UK and Indian artists working in lens-based and related media. The selected artists recently undertook a two-week residency near Vadodara, India in the tribal-rich district of Chhotaudepur in Gujarat during the festival of Holi. Snippets from the residency are currently available to view on the digital screens at Artcore Gallery. The residency provided the artists with an opportunity to document the spring festival of Holi, disappearing tribal culture, and ways of life, explore local fairs and markets, visit UNESCO World Heritage sites and learn about different traditions and rituals. An exhibition of artworks produced during the residency will launch on 12 May at Artcore Gallery along with the grand opening of our refurbished gallery space.
