‘Create a picture that reflects the essence of Hayfield on the day.’

Held annually in Hayfield on the 28th June, this competition is open to all age groups. Artists are invited to come to Hayfield and ‘capture the essence of Hayfield as seen on the day‘ in a painting created in the parish during the time available.

Significant cash prizes can be won by seniors. There is a first prize of £250. The winning painting remains the property of Hayfield Parish Council and joins a display in the Village Hall. Other senior prizes include £100 for second and £75 for third place.

Register at St Matthew’s Church between 8:30 and 11:00am on the day of the competition. Return your completed work for display by 3:45pm. The public are admitted to vote for the painting they feel should win and an independent panel of three judges award votes to the paintings they judge as 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The combined votes decide on the winning paintings. Prizes are awarded in the church at approximately 5:30pm

The seven children’s categories each have a 1st and 2nd prize of good quality art materials. Children are allowed to paint their picture over the week before the competition.
