A noisy, flamboyant, exaggerated, blatant or sensational form of promotion or publicity.

Synonyms with hoopla, hype, or plug, to praise or publicise extravagantly

We are inviting you to ballyhoo a show/idea/project as though it were the most outstanding in all creation. You present the idea, we’ll provide the audience and stage.

Who can apply to take part?

This is an open invitation to all artists who have an idea, proposal, or show you want to shout about. You may be looking for partnerships, feedback, funding or a tour. We are looking for applicants that align with the aims and ambitions of our Conference Programming Principles these are:

Encouraging more diverse work in the sector
Ensuring the conference programme is representative of diverse voices
Includes and relates to individuals with protected characteristics
Touches on key themes and topics such as Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Environmental Sustainability, Accessibility, Health & Wellbeing.

Derby Book Festival’s Shared Reading Project and Derby City Libraries have announced a new initiative for October half-term. Children aged 5-7 can join a free reading session where Shared Reading volunteers will be on hand to help them apply for their very own Blue Peter Book Badge.
